Discover the different themed weeks that we can organise and their learning objectives. Please contact us if you need to modify some of the elements, or your length of stay, to meet the requirements of your project.

 

  • Sport and the environment

    An exploration of natural habitats

    Instructors : CPA Lathus and CPIE Val de Gartempe (Centre for environmental initiatives)

     

    Learning objectives :

    • Introduce partipants to the riches of a variety of natural environments.
    • Raise awareness about the fragility of these natural habitats and the impact of man’s actions on them.
    • Discover the life of a tree, how it survives and its important role.

     

    Activities and workshops :

    • Mountain bike nature trip (farmland, sustainable development, streams..).
    • Exploration trip on the river and lake in a kayak.
    • Rock climbing at the Roc d’Enfer site.
    • Cave exploration to learn about the underground water cycle.
    • Orienteering challenge around the theme of water usage.
    • Into the woods, following an field archery course.
    • Tree climbing on pine trees.

    From large mouths to little ears – the Magic of words with Corinne Pignoux

     

    Learning objectives :

    • Develop listening and attention skills.
    • Understand the chronological sequence of a story.
    • Highlight the value of using personal imagination to create a story together.
    • Enriching the vocabulary.

     

    Activities and workshops

    • A presentation by the children given in a fun, magical and imaginative way.
    • Invent a story using objects from the beginning to the end.
    • Review the story, discuss how can it be improved, edit and distribute chapters to the children.
    • Presentation of the story by different groups of children.

     

    For budding puppeteers – discovering the world of Shadow theatre with Eric Cornette

     

    Learning objectives :

    Develop free expression, understand texts and their rewording.

    Using skills to control the body, listen, manipulate the puppet, alter the voice and make the corresponding movements.

    Communicate and work as a team to produce a performance at the end of the week.

     

    Activities and workshops :

    • Different games and exercises to fire the imagination and develop corporal and vocal expression.
    • Initiation and training in handling the puppets
    • Experimentation with the fundamentals of puppeteering and shadow theatre.

    • Direction and stage design for the production and the performance.

    Work on a production will be alternated with an initiation in acting, including drama exercises to work on stage presence, articulation, intonation, voice projection..

     

    Learning about music - an orchestra of budding musicians with Nathalie Vrignon

     

    Learning objectives :

    Explore different types of instruments and play them.

    Help pupils to learn the appropriate gestures for playing an instrument.

    Each musician to take part in the creation of a group production.

     

    Activities and workshops :

    • Brief presentation and exploration of orchestral instruments, learn about the positions for playing.
    • Learn the different ways to play your instrument of choice.
    • Listen to works that illustrate the techniques of the chosen instruments.
    • Practice playing the instrument and focus on the interpretation of the music.
    • Record the production of the sounds and play them back.
    • Review the progress and discuss new ideas.

     

    Once upon a time in Prehistory – tales and archeological discovery with archeologists from the Museum of Prehistory of La Sabline

     

    Learning objectives :

    Explore the Prehistoric era through an evolving narrative.

    Arouse the curiosity and stimulate the learning process.

    Bring children face-to-face with prehistoric technology.

    Awaken the imagination.

     

    Activities and workshops :

    The beginning of the story, reflections on this period of history.

    Facts about how the Magdalénian humans organised themselves : how to read the countryside and exploring a natural rock shelter to understand the natural environment of that time.

    Visits to the museum in Lussac-les-Châteaux and the des Fadets cave in the morning, and the Font-Serein cave system in the afternooon. Workshops on fire, grease lamps, and an introduction to pre-historic art.

    Creation of a story, step-by-step, with each group continuing the work of the last group.

    Workshops on flintknapping, leatherwork and archeological digging.

    The completion of the story and debriefing.

     

    The basics of calligraphy – beautiful writing with Agnès Chung

     

    Learning objectives :

    Inspire the children to write well.

    Encourage the development of concentration skills.

    Learn about the history of writing.

    Expose young people to the culture of their ancestors.

     

    Activities and workshops :

    Introduction to the tools, the inks, and the different mediums used in calligraphy.

    Presentation of the first calligraphy techniques and the use of 20 different characters.
